(I thought I took some pictures of some of the process, but I have been unable to locate them. Sorry!)
I went to Goodwill and found some frames for super cheap. I searched for paint that would match their bedding and ours (which was probably the hardest part), and finally painted the frames. After doing a few coats and letting them dry, I put a few coats of polycrylic to protect the paint. I searched through my material and found a nice white with sequins that was really pretty. The girls loved it. My material though I had to go and buy. It took a while to find something that would look good with the color of paint I picked and with our bedding. After I had all the material I needed, I cut out extra cardboard to go along with the card board that came with the frames. I got out my staple gun and attached the material all around the back, making sure to pull tight enough to get the front flat. FYI: If you use a see through material like white, you will need to add some scrap material behind it, so you don't see the cardboard underneath.
Note: If you have some thin wood, or a stronger kind of cardboard it would work better than just cardboard. I just didn't have any nor did I want to go buy any, so I made do with the cardboard!
After I got the cardboard all covered, I returned the finished product to the frame, where it stayed for quite a while until I was able to finally find the hooks I was looking for. I wanted a large quantity and it needed to be, well, anything but brass! I knew Walmart carried them, it just took looking at a couple different ones before I found them!
This last part, I made the mistake of trying to add the hooks while the fabric covered cardboard was still in the frame...it didn't work so well. Luckily, I figured that out after 2 hooks and removed it from the frame and used my material cutting ruler to make sure the rows were straight. I placed the hooks every 2 inches, starting at either 1 or 2 inches from the sides. Depending on your frame size and what you are trying to hang (i.e. long necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, etc) will depend on whether you have a second row and where you place it! Then I just hung them on the wall and put all the jewelry on them. I had NO idea that I actually had as much as I did. It makes a huge difference to be able to see them. I might actually start wearing more jewelry! Yay!
