I haven't been around much. Sorry about that. I have been working like crazy to finish as many projects as I can before we move next month. Can't afford all the weight that my "collections" will add. Hehehehehe
The number one project on my list to finish was a table and chairs set that I have been working on for almost a year now. I actually got the chairs first, then kept my eye out for a table with a similar look. To see the
I was super excited to find this table for a good deal, and picked it up within an hour of them posting it! She said she had about fifty offers for it from the time I called and the time I got there 20 minutes later. (I forgot to take a before picture, so my friend who has the exact same table, took a picture and sent it to me. Thanks Brandi)
I thought of a couple different way to complete this, but eventually I discovered two-toned furniture. I fell in love! So, I combined my new found love of two-toned furniture with glazing and came up with this.
I am thrilled with how the whole thing turned out. I already have similar plans for the table and chairs that I am redoing for our family, and for our master bedroom furniture. Now that I know what I am doing, maybe it will go smoother! HA!
Everything is a learning experience and I learned A LOT with this project.
Just for fun, here are a few more Before and After Pictures:

I don't know why it is saying Shane. Weird. It has never done that before...
Oh Stephanie! I love it!!! I am so glad it worked out for you :) My table is dark on top and painted cream on the bottom. How funny. I also love the glaze on the chairs. Yay!
Love the two-tone! I was thinking of doing something like this with my dining set... did you just paint the top?... or is it stained? Looks great! :)
Umm, this is Brandi. I don't know why blogger is acting weird.
Having seen it in person, I can say that as beautiful as it is in the pictures, it's EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL in person. The stained table top is just...rich. That's the only way to describe it.
Love, love, love your table and chairs!
Beautiful! I love two-tone furniture myself and plan on doing the same thing to my newish set!

OMG I LOVE THIS!! I found you on all things thrifty, great job and so inspiring!
Great job!! It makes me re-think about my table. Love the material for seats. Where did you find that? ~Thanks
Awwww, thanks everyone! I appreciate all the comments.
@Jennifer- I stained the table top with Minwax Chestnut gel stain.
@Cynthia- The fabric is a Waverly pattern, not sure of the name, but I got it at Hancock's Fabrics.
I love it! What did you do with the table top? I can't tell if it is a stain or brown or black paint, it looks great!
I have a table very similar that I have been wanting to paint! I would love to know the process you used to paint/stain the table. Did you sand it down first? Your table and chairs look beautiful!

I'm also interested in knowing how you dealt with the tabletop...Did you sand, then stain?
I have a buffet that I want to do as two-tone, as well, and a similar stain/treatment would make it match the rest of our furniture.
Thanks!

This is beautiful! You really made the set look like it belongs together. I love the subtlety of the glaze on the chairs.
